AppDancer Networks’ AppDancer/FA Named a Finalist in the Best of Interop Awards for NetWorld+Interop 2002 Las Vegas

CMP Media’s Network Computing, Information Week and EE Times Editors Select AppDancer Networks as a Network Management Finalist

Roswell, Georgia, USA, April 29, 2002 – AppDancer/FA was named a Finalist in the Network Management category of the Best of Interop Awards competition by CMP Media’s Network Computing, InformationWeek and EE Times. The winners will be selected at NetWorld+Interop 2002 Las Vegas, to be held May 7 – 9, 2002.

AppDancer/FA, the first application-centric network monitoring and analysis tool for the 21st century, was introduced in March 2002. AppDancer/FA redefines network analysis by combining network application monitoring (including HTTP, email, DNS, FTP, voice/multimedia); network device monitoring (routers, switches, gateways, and similar devices); and network data capture, monitoring and analysis into one easy-to-use software package. Designed for today’s convergent networks, AppDancer/FA recognizes and monitors all major audio and video protocols, including VoIP, plus traditional data protocols.

AppDancer/FA is currently released as an application running under Windows 2000 Professional and Server, Windows NT 4.0 SP6 Workstation and Server, and Windows XP. The software is web-enabled by design, and most screens may be viewed remotely from any standard web browser.

Network Flow Analysis is a unique advanced function of AppDancer/FA. Network Flows may be displayed at three distinct levels of the network –IP Flows, listing all major applications present on the network and their impact on the network, Application Flows, including detailed ladder diagrams of application logic, and Content Flows, re-creating the end user experience for all major applications.

The editors of Network Computing, InformationWeek and EE Times, three of CMP Media’s premier information technology publications, review over 250 submissions, evaluating hundreds of new products. Finalists were then selected in 11 categories. AppDancer/FA was named a Finalist in the Network Management category. The Best of Interop Awards are designed to help IT and network managers shorten the evaluation process in assessing new technology products. By identifying innovative products scheduled to debut at NetWorld+Interop, the Best of Interop Awards assist in the quest for creative Internet-enabled solutions.

“AppDancer Networks is very pleased to be named a finalist in the Best of Interop competition,” says Roger Cox, AppDancer Networks’ President. “We believe this award further validates our focus on the market’s need for an application-centric network monitoring and analysis tool.”

“When selecting finalists for the Best of Interop Awards, we are looking for products that stand out from the competition by providing a unique solution to a problem or one that blazes new territory in the networking arena,” explained Ron Anderson, lab director for Network Computing and head of the joint editorial judging for the Best of Interop Awards.

“This year’s list of entries was particularly broad and diverse, perhaps surprising given the industry downturn. It was a difficult task to narrow down these stellar entrants,” said Loring Wirbel, editorial director of communications for CMP’s Electronics Group.

Winners of the Best of Interop at NetWorld+Interop 2002 Las Vegas will be selected at the show and announced at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
