AppDancer Networks’ AppDancer/RV Named a Finalist in the Best of Show Awards for NetWorld+Interop 2002 Atlanta

CMP Media’s Network Computing, CRN, VarBusiness and EE Times Editors Select AppDancer Networks as a Network Management Finalist

Roswell, Georgia, USA, September 5, 2002 – AppDancer/RV™ (Remote Viewer) was named a Finalist in the Network Management category of the Best of Show Awards competition by CMP Media’s Network Computing, CRN, VARBusiness and EE Times. This is the second AppDancer product to have been named a finalist at a NetWorld+Interop event. The winners will be selected at NetWorldSM+Interop® 2002 Atlanta, to be held September 10-12, 2002.

AppDancer/RV, the first remotely viewable and operable, application-centric, network monitoring and analysis tool for the 21st century, was announced in August 2002. AppDancer/RV redefines network monitoring and network analysis into one easy-to-use remotely accessible software package. Designed for today’s convergent networks, AppDancer/RV recognizes and monitors all major audio and video protocols, including VoIP, plus Microsoft SQL Server and traditional data protocols.

AppDancer/RV is a distributed application running under Windows 2000 Professional and Server, Windows NT 4.0 SP6 Workstation and Server, or Windows XP. Multiple AppDancer/RV Agents may be deployed at various points throughout a corporate network to monitor critical information running on that network segment, and the AppDancer/RV Console is used at a network control point to view the information gathered by the Agents. The Console user has complete control of the Agents, viewing the monitored information in real time, and moving from Agent to Agent with just a few mouse clicks.

A unique advanced function of AppDancer/RV is its ease-of-use through Application Flows, which are real-time visual diagrams of the application’s network conversation. Content Flows are another break-through feature that re-create the end user experience by enabling the operator to view the actual content on the network in real-time.

The editors of Network Computing, CRN, VARBusiness and EE Times, four of CMP Media’s premier information technology publications, review over 100 submissions, evaluating new products. Finalists were then selected in five categories. AppDancer/RV was named a Finalist in the Network Management category. The Best of Show Awards are designed to help IT and network managers shorten the evaluation process in assessing new technology products. By identifying innovative products debuted at NetWorld+Interop, the Best of Show Awards assist in the quest for creative Internet-enabled solutions.

“AppDancer Networks is very pleased to be named a finalist in the Best of Show competition,” says Roger Cox, AppDancer Networks’ President. “We believe this award further validates our focus on the market’s need for a remotely viewable and operable, application-centric, network monitoring and analysis tool.”

“When selecting finalists for the Best of Show Awards, we are looking for products that stand out from the competition by providing a unique solution to a problem or one that blazes new territory in the networking arena,” explained Ron Anderson, lab director for Network Computing and head of the joint editorial judging for the Best of Show Awards.

“This year’s list of entries was particularly broad and diverse, perhaps surprising given the industry downturn. It was a difficult task to narrow down these stellar entrants,” said Loring Wirbel, editorial director of communications for CMP’s Electronics Group.

Winners of the Best of Show at NetWorld+Interop 2002 Atlanta will be selected at the show and announced at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, September 10, 2002, at the Georgia World Congress Center.
